Habitats.

Habitats are the natural place or home of an animal. They are adapted to their environment or habitat in many different ways.

Foxes live in dens and burrows. They are adapted to these environments because; they have sharp hearing and eyesight to help them catch their prey. They are carnivores, which mean that they eat meat, and they can move very quickly.

Owls live in trees and they are nocturnal. That means that they are only usually awake at night and sleep during the day.

They have sharp hearing and eyesight and can swoop down on their prey silently.

Bats live in caves and they are nocturnal. Bats are blind, but they find their prey using ultrasonic sound. Some bats are omnivores, which means they eat meat and fruit as well as vegetables.

Who are carnivores?

 While others are carnivores, which mean they only eat meat.

Spiders live on webs that they make themselves. Spiders webs are as strong as steel of the same width and length. Spiders hunt on smaller insects than themselves although they can eat up two times their own body weight. Some spiders catch their prey in a web, and then paralyse their prey by injecting a poison into them. They have very sharp eyesight, and they have complex eyes, many eyes together are complex eyes.

Earthworms have a long slim, slippery body that allows them to creep through small crevices. They live under the soil, feed on soil and rotting leaves and they are nocturnal so that they can avoid birds who prey on them.

WHO AM I ?

I live in dens and burrows. I do not go about looking for food during the daytime. I work during the night and sleep in the day. Dogs don’t like me at all, although    I am a distant cousin to dogs. Please tell me why dogs don’t like me! My favourite dish [food] is chicken, yum yum. I can run fast, even to catch a rabbit or two.  

I like to drink honey but not always easy to find. I have to fly around looking for it. We live in a comb, of course not in the one you take to tidy the hair. I like summer; actually I like spring time when all the flowers are opening. I got a sting, well for my protection. I have a long slim body with golden stripes across the body. I have three pairs of legs and a pair of wings. I usually move around with my friends. Who am I?
